Fix “ClipSonic is damaged and can’t be opened” on macOS

If macOS shows “ClipSonic is damaged and can’t be opened” when you try to launch the app, don’t worry. This usually does not mean that ClipSonic is actually damaged.

macOS may block apps downloaded from the internet because of its built-in security system (Gatekeeper). This can sometimes happen when an app is not recognized or its security attributes were added during the download.

How to fix it

Step 1: Open Terminal

Press Command (⌘) + Space, type Terminal, and press Enter.

Step 2: Run the command

Copy and paste the following command into Terminal, then press Enter:

xattr -cr /Applications/ClipSonic.app

This removes the security attributes that may be causing macOS to block ClipSonic.

Step 3: Open ClipSonic

Go to your Applications folder and open ClipSonic again.

ClipSonic should now open normally.

Still having problems?

If ClipSonic still won't open after following these steps, make sure you have downloaded the latest version from the official ClipSonic website and contact our support team for help.
